Masutatsu Oyama (1927-1994)

Sosai Masutatsu Oyama founded Kyokushinkai Karate and established his first dojo in Tokyo in 1954. His approach emphasized hard training, practical full-contact karate, and the discipline to test technique honestly.

Donald Buck

Organization Founder

Donald Buck (1926-1998)

Hanshi Donald Buck was Sosai Oyama's friend and first student in the United States. He established Oyama's Karate in San Francisco in 1957, later Buck's School of the Tiger, and founded the American Kyokushin Karate Organization.

Frederick Buck

Hanshi Frederick S. Buck is president of the American Kyokushin Karate Organization and son of founder Hanshi Donald Buck. He began teaching martial arts in 1973 and was promoted to 9th Dan by the organization council.
