Training and Influence

George was an amateur boxer and taught Fred how to fight and take care of himself when Fred was young. His blocking drills made a strong impression even when he was not going hard.

George started martial arts later in life but gave back to students of every level, from young children to experienced fighters.

Kyokushin Service

George trained with Hanshi Fred for most of Hanshi's life. As Fred's stepfather, he was consistently present, and he received his black belt from Fred and Don Buck.

He helped teach, judge, and advise in Sacramento dojos. George also opened his own dojo in Sacramento in the late 1980s and helped his grandson, Paul A. Cabano Jr., open a dojo in Craig, Colorado.

Background

Before Fred moved into Kyokushin, George helped him practice Kenpo and later Taekwondo. George also moved into Kyokushin and received his 5th Dan.

His earlier interests included boxing and race car driving, which he later set aside for married life, family, and karate.
